| I first embedded with the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Marine Regiment in March of 2005 during their predeployment workup for Afghanistan at the Mountain Warfare training Center near Bridgeport, California. I subsequently joined 2/3 in late September of 2005 in Afghanistan, and stayed with them (1st Platoon, Company E, based out of Camp Blessing, deep in the Pech River Valley) for one month, embedding on a number of multi-day combat operations. I've been chronicling the battalion since, including their return to Hawaii, their predeployment training for Iraq, and then joined them for 3 1/2 weeks in Iraq's Al Anbar Province.
